The Uckfield and District Preservation Society (UDPS) was founded in the winter of 1968 by Tony Turner to preserve Nutley Windmill and Bridge Cottage.
In the late 1960s there were plans to build the Uckfield bypass and a connecting road through into the town centre. This road was to go through Bridge Cottage so the society was formed to protect the cottage. The Windmill was slowly falling down and so the society set out to restore it to working order. From this starting point the society has grown to become a well respected society for conservation in the local district.

All the work is carried out by the members on a voluntary basis, with members giving up their time to help on the various projects. Your support is very much appreciated.
The society is a UK Registered charity, number 258785.
